“Every great wine has a story”
While Siskin Wines stands for passion and craft, the story behind its origin is quite amusing as well.
Here’s how it all came about, straight from our founder Jay Ruparel.

“One fine sunny afternoon in Inverness, Scotland, I was by myself, sipping on a glass of fine Australian wine at this quaint wine bar. Keeping me company were a pleasant cool breeze and melodious chirps from some pretty little birds frolicking about. Curious, I asked the bar owner about these birds. He told me that these birds are called Siskin, and local legend has it that if a Siskin poops (pardon the language) on anyone, whatever they are thinking about at that time should be pursued, as it would be successful. I enjoyed the funny anecdote and continued enjoying my wine amidst the chirps.
Blame it on the weather or the wine, but I got to thinking about my passion for Australian wines and how lovely it would be for me to have my own range of boutique wines that I can take to the world. It amazes me to this day, how a Siskin bird targeted me accurately when I was deep in this thought. I knew then that the local legend cannot be disrespected and this dream must truly be chased. In recognition of the bird that blessed me on that beautiful summer day, I decided to name my wine brand Siskin.”

Temperatures are controlled accurately, batch times are adhered to strictly and our vintners know exactly when the maturing should cease. Sourced from Australia’s finest wine regions, each drop of Siskin is a tribute to authentic methods of winemaking.
